Cr⁴⁺:YAG crystal, also known as chromium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet crystal, is an excellent passive Q-switch crystal.


The main characteristics are:

1.Good thermo-mechanical properties, suitable for high average power operation;

2.High doping concentration (up to ~10^18 cm^-3), conducive to device miniaturization;

3.Large absorption cross-section near 1 μm (~10^-18 cm²);

4.Appropriate excited state lifetime (~3.4 μs);

5.Low saturation energy density;

6.High damage threshold (500 MW/cm²).
