Krypton lamp

Krypton lamps are the pump light sources for solid-state lasers . Because the luminescence spectrum matches the absorplion band of YAG:Nd+3 crystal, and the relative light energy ullization ratio is relalively high, it is the most imporant YAG continuous solid-state laseroptical pump light source.

Basic Parameters

Working Substance

Filled gas: High-purity kypton gas (puritly usualy 299.99%). Some special purpose krypton lamps may be mixed with other inert gases(such as argon)to optimize performance

Lamp Type and Structure

Common types: Pulsed krypton lamps, continuous krypton lamps, long-arc krypton lamps, short-arc krypton lamps, etc. The structure includes a quarlz glass envelope, electrodes (tungsten electrodes), leads, etc.

Dimensions: Depending on the application, the length ranges from a few centimeters to dozens of cenlimeters, and the tube diameter isapproximately 5-20 mm.

Photoelectric Parameters

Spectral Characteristics

Emission spectrum: Mainly concentrated in the infrared, visible, and utraviolet bands, with characteristic spectral lines including.Infrared region: 750 nm,766.5 nm, 794.8 nm, etc.

Visible region: 482 nm,530.9 nm, 557 nm, 647.1 nm (red light, the strongest spectral line), etc

Ultraviolet region: Below 350 nm (with lower intensity).

Spectral distribution characteristics. A combination of continuous and line spectra, with energy concentrated in the red and near.

infrared regions. lt is suitable as a red light source or a laser pumping source (e.g.. pumping ruby lasers).

Power and Energy

Continuous krypton lamps: The power range is typically from tens of was to several kilowalts, with typical values such as 100 w, 500W, and 1000 W The luminous efficiency is about 20-40 lm/W (visible light efficiency).

Pulsed krypton lamps: The single-pulse energy can reach tens to thousands of joules, the pulse width is generaly 0.1-10 ms. and therepetition frequency can range from a few Hz to tens of Hz (depending on cooling conditions).
